A weekend of learning for Alex Escrig at Phillip Island

The Moto2 Australian Grand Prix was an intense weekend for Alex Escrig, who had to overcome several setbacks at the Phillip Island circuit. Despite the difficulties, the Valencian rider managed to complete the race feeling positive and convinced that he is getting closer and closer to the level he aspires to.

Friday got off to a difficult start, with an engine failure in the first free practice session that affected the entire weekend's work. From that moment on, Escrig focused on making up for lost time and finding the best possible balance on the bike in changing conditions that made the challenge even greater.

On Sunday, he started the race with a Long Lap Penalty that he had to serve in the early laps. Even so, he felt competitive and made a good start, managing to gain several positions. "It was a strange race. We started with the penalty, but I felt good and competitive, even though I didn't fully know my real potential. I made a good start and regained positions, but a collision caused me to lose time. After the long lap, I rode alone, trying to make up tenths of a second, until a mistake caused me to go wide and I couldn't get back to the group," explained Alex after crossing the finish line in twenty-third position.

Despite everything, the driver was satisfied with his performance and the work done over the weekend. ‘Even so, I'm happy. We're going to Malaysia feeling confident and with the feeling that we're close to our goal,’ he said.

The next race will take Escrig to the Sepang circuit in Malaysia, where he will seek to continue gaining experience and maintain the progress shown in recent races.
