The Circuito de Jerez de la Frontera hosted the first European round of the 2024 Moto2 World Championship season, a weekend marked by extreme equality in the category, with more than twenty riders separated by less than a second during the qualifying sessions.
Alex Escrig once again demonstrated his evolution in the championship. Although the start of the weekend was marked by difficulties in finding the best tyre set-up, the Valencian driver was just a few thousandths of a second away from qualifying for Q2 on Saturday. In the race, Escrig showed a remarkable ability to adapt: after a difficult start, he had a solid second half of the race, lapping in the leading times and moving up to 17th position, just one step away from the points.
"It was a difficult weekend. I didn't feel completely comfortable, but at some points I was competitive. In the race I lost ground at the beginning, but then I was able to recover a good pace. Now it's time to analyse everything we've learnt to keep improving and be where we deserve to be", explained Alex after crossing the finish line.
The result reflects a clear trend of progress compared to last season. The team will continue to work on refining key aspects such as the starts, with the aim of exploiting the full potential of both the rider and the bike.
The next stop of the championship will be from the 9th to the 11th of May at the mythical circuit of Le Mans, where Alex Escrig will be looking to continue his ascent and get closer to the points zone.
