The Assen circuit, one of the most emblematic on the calendar, tested both Alex Escrig's technique and determination in a new round of the Moto2 World Championship. Despite the difficulties, the Spanish rider finished in 16th position, very close to the points.
From Friday practice onwards, Escrig faced difficult conditions to find the ideal pace. Even so, he managed to stay competitive during some sessions, showing small improvements that augured a fighting race.
On Sunday, Alex initially stayed in the group, but as the laps went by he lost the slipstreaming reference and had to focus on completing a solid race, gathering important data for the upcoming rounds of the championship.
"It was a difficult weekend, we didn't manage to establish a good feeling. In the race I did my best: I was in the group at the beginning but then I lost the slipstream. Even so, I tried to use the race to gather useful information to help us regain pace and confidence," said Alex after crossing the finish line.
With his mind already set on Sachsenring, where the next round of the championship will take place in two weeks' time, Alex is motivated to continue working with his team and take a step forward in the second half of the season.
